Ceiling Fans Recalled, Blades Flying Off
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall on over 70,000 ceiling fans sold exclusively by Lowe's Home Improvement Stores. The 48 inch Harbor Breeze Santa Ana ceiling fan has been recalled after more than 200 reports of the blades flying off while the fans are in use, including several that actually hit people. The fans are manufactured by Fanim Industries and were sold between May 2014 through January 2016.
The recall details from CPS are: This recall involves Harbor Breeze 48-inch Santa Ana Ceiling Fan, model LP8294LBN, UPC code 840506599178. The model number can be on the fan motor as well as on the inside of the battery compartment cover of the included handheld remote control. The recalled fan has two dark walnut fan blades, brushed nickel blade arm holders and a frosted white glass globe containing a light bulb.
