Household Hazardous Waste Day is back!

After the coronavirus pandemic forced the event to be canceled in 2020, the popular event put on by Lafayette Consolidated Government is happening once again and this year it will be in the CAJUNDOME. If you're a resident in the City of Lafayette or the unincorporated areas of Lafayette Parish, you are encouraged to bring your unwanted household chemicals to be recycled or properly disposed.

The lists of acceptable and unacceptable items below can be found at www.lafayettela.gov. Residents may also call the Environmental Quality Division at (337) 291-5637.

Chemicals Accepted

  • Alkaline Batteries
  • Chemical Cleaners
  • Fluorescent Tubes
  • Gasoline
  • Herbicides
  • Mercury Thermometers
  • Paint & Paint Products
  • Paint Thinner & Stripper
  • Pesticides
  • Photographic Chemicals
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Stains
  • Turpentine

Also, LCG says that latex paint that is dropped off will be re-blended and packaged for Lafayette Habitat for Humanity.

The event will happen Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon.

In order to park, you are asked to enter the CAJUNDOME parking lot on Reinhardt Drive off Cajundome Boulevard.
