Ben Carson Tests Positive for Coronavirus

UPDATE: Dr. Ben Carson, on his Facebook page, responded to concerns about his health with the following:

We are so touched by the outpouring of concern and prayers after the news came out that I had tested positive for COVID-19. Thankfully I have access to a very powerful therapeutic, so I was only sick for a very short period of time and I am already back to working, albeit virtually. I will be quarantining for a few days just to be safe. God is good!

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump campaign’s election night watch party in the White House East Room was supposed to be a scene of celebration. Instead, the event — with few masks and no social distancing — is being eyed as a potential coronavirus super-spreading event.

Ben Carson, the Secretary for Housing and Urban Development, is the latest attendee to test positive, a department spokesman confirmed. White House chief of staff Mark Meadows attended the event and has also tested positive in the latest White House cluster. Guests who have tested positive also include David Bossie, who was recently tasked with overseeing the campaign’s legal challenges contesting the election results.

Polls suggest Trump's cavalier attitude toward the virus was a serious drag on his reelection bid.
