Band Loses Gigs, PR Firm For Defending Stanford Rapist
An all-sister band out of Ohio has been losing gigs and has been dropped by their public relations firm after one of its members defended the Stanford Rapist, Brock Allen Turner.
According to the New York Times story, Leslie Rasmussen, the drummer for the band Good English, submitted a pre-sentencing letter to the judge in the case, blaming alcohol for Turner's actions, saying that it wasn't rape because the victim didn't remember "anything but the amount she drank".
At the time she submitted the letter, Rasmussen was unaware of the fact that the letters would become public record. After the NYT posted the letters, festivals and venues began to cancel Good English's scheduled performances.
