The historic church, located at 515 Cathedral Street in downtown Lafayette, is a beautiful structure completed in 1916 in Dutch Romanesque Revival style. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, the red and white bricks accompanied by rich stained glass, make one feel connected to the cathedral's living spirit in a way that lures you into its splendor and beauty.

During the recent South Louisiana winter storm of 2021 Father Andrew Schumacher, of the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, photographed the single tower church using a drone. Townsquare Media (TSM) has been informed by an employee of the church that Father Schumacher piloted the drone himself and has granted TSM permission to share these images that are simply postcard-ready.
