The Acadiana High School Robotics Club will soon be entering a national competition of science and technology, and they need your help raising funds to participate.

The FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science & Technology) Robotics Competition has been endorsed by astronauts, scientists, and engineers as the "Ultimate Mind Sport", immersing students in the exciting world of science and math in a fun and competitive atmosphere. Competitions are broadcast nationally by ESPN, NASA, and many local TV stations. Each year brings a new problem with new challenges for the students to overcome. This year more than 3,800 teams from around the world will have six intense weeks to design, build, program and test their robots to compete in this year's challenge.

Right now, Acadiana High School's Robotics Team is in the planning and budget stage for the upcoming year, and your help is needed. Sponsors can donate money, food, tools, or services.

According to the school, monies donated will be used to help support the cost of building the robot, attending regional competitions, and if the team does well enough, attend the international competition. It is estimated that the team will need over $19,000 over the course of this season alone for robot parts, competition fees, travel, and food.

The students of Acadiana High School’s FIRST Robotics Team 4336, Ramageddon, would greatly appreciate any help you and your business can provide. Last year the Acadiana High Robotics Team students logged over 500 after-school hours designing, building, programming, and testing their +130lb robot. Students learned to use CAD to design various mechanisms and then program a CNC router to manufacture the hardware for their robot. It’s as close to "real-world engineering" as a student can get without being employed in the field.

Please consider helping the Acadiana High Robotics Team as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of NASA’s lunar landing with this year’s competition: MISSION DEEP SPACE. All contributions will be recognized. More details on the recognition given to sponsors can be found in this packet.

Sponsorship levels begin at $50 and go all the way up to $5,000 (or as much as you'd like!!), and checks can be made payable to: "Acadiana High School" with "FIRST Robotics Team 4336" on the "Memo" line.
