Officers with the Abbeville Police Department arrested a man for brandishing a weapon during an argument Tuesday afternoon. Officers were called out to begin an investigation into what exactly happened when two men were seeing arguing on a city street and the events that subsequently followed in connection to this case.

The whole situation started when two men were seen arguing in the 1610 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive just shortly after 3:20 in the afternoon yesterday.

The argument ended up attracting the attention of a woman who happened to be walking in the same area. The woman went over to the two men she saw arguing to see what the whole situation was about. That's when police say that Kameron John Levine pulled out a stolen handgun out of the shorts that he was wearing, and he threatened this woman with harm.

Police say they were able to track down Levine, and they arrested him for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Possession of a Stolen Firearm. The promptly escorted the man to the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center where he was booked into that facility on the above charges.

In a press release with the details about this situation and subsequent arrest, Abbeville Police Department Chief of Police William "Bill" Spearman wanted to express his thanks to his officers for doing a good job with the apprehension of the offender in this case.

The Chief also wanted to express his thanks to the community in Abbeville who he says, constantly help the police by giving them information about crimes that happen in the city.
