A Sparta, Tennessee man is counting his money, and his blessings this morning after recovering his winning lottery ticket after it was initially lost. And not just any lottery ticket, one that was worth more than a million dollars.

According to KLFY via Nextar Wire Services, Nick Slatten purchased a Tennessee Cash lottery ticket last week from the Village Market in Sparta, which is located in the eastern part of the state. After the drawing on Thursday night, Slatten discovered that he was the winner of $1,178,746. He told Nextar "I was stunned. I couldn’t believe it. I can’t express it, it was something else.” Ummm, that's the understatement of the year. I think at this point I would have hidden the ticket so that nothing happened to it before I could take it to the Lottery office. But clearly, that is not what Mr Slatten did.

Slatten was running errands the next day, and after sharing the good news with his fiancée, he took his brother to the local O’Reilly Auto Parts Store. This is where he discovered that the million-dollar lottery ticket was...missing. Slatten didn't panic just yet, but he did retrace his steps from the morning to look for the golden ticket. And unbelievably, he found it. On the ground. In a parking lot. Slatten said “It’s a million-dollar ticket, and someone stepped right over it."

Let this be a lesson to all who purchase lottery tickets, even if they aren't the million-dollar ones.
