There will be no residential garbage or recycling service on Christmas day for customers served by Republic Services and the Recycling Foundation in Lafayette Parish.

Customers who regularly receive garbage and recycling collection on Thursday will receive collection on Friday (Dec. 26), and regular Friday customers will receive collection on Saturday (Dec. 27).

All residential customers served by Republic Services will receive excess garbage collection, resulting from holiday celebrations, on their first service day following Christmas.  Monday through Wednesday customers will receive excess garbage collection Dec. 29 – 31.

Once the large automated garbage cart is full, residents may bag any excess garbage and place the bagged garbage on the ground four feet away from the cart.  Large boxes will also be collected, but should be empty except for the original packing material.

The Lafayette Consolidated Government Compost Facility at 400 Dugas Rd. will be closed on Christmas day and will reopen on Friday (Dec. 26).

The compost facility will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 27.  During December, January, and February, the facility is open only on the first Saturday of each month.  The next Saturday the facility will be open is Saturday, Jan. 3.
