Do you think that it's disrespectful for visitors to wade in the reflecting pool at the National World War II memorial in Washington, DC?

The wife of an active duty officer (her father was in the military, as well) was visiting the memorial this week with friends and family when she came upon this sight:

According to the story on the United States Marine Corps Life website, she witnessed over 100 people wading in the pool, just a few feet beyond the "Honor Your Veterans: No Wading/Coins Damage Fountain" signs.

There's even, as she pointed out, a picture on the sign for those who can't read English.

In my opinion, the only people who have earned the right to cool their heels in that pool are the men and women who served during WWII (though something tells me that they wouldn't even consider it).
