Vigilantes On The Bayou

One of the most interesting lessons I remember enjoying from my Louisiana history class was the struggle of American and Acadian landowners over the area surrounding the Bayou Teche. The Longfellow - Evangeline State Historic Site will be reenacting the battles between American vigilantes and the Acadian anti-vigilantes on Saturday, January 24 at 10 AM and 1 PM. The re - enactors will set up mock campsites and demonstrate cooking, civilian, and military techniques of the period, including the firing of black powder weapons. Click here for more information.
