The bowl matchup that has been rumored for weeks became reality today when Tulane formally accepted a bid to play against Louisiana in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, Saturday, December 21st at 8pm at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

The Green Wave (7-5, 5-3 Conference USA) are enjoying their first winning season since 2002 and will make their first bowl appearance since that year.  Second year coach Curtis Johnson has pumped life into the Tulane program, playing in its final season in Conference USA before joining the American Athletic Conference next season.

The matchup with the Ragin' Cajuns will make the second consecutive year the two teams have met, with Louisiana (8-3, 5-1 Sun Belt) taking a 41-13 win at Cajun Field last season.

Tulane is 5-1 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this season.

It will be the first ever meeting of two Louisiana schools in a bowl game.
