The end of a technology that changed the way we were entertained, comes to an end this month.

If you're like me, you probably thought these were long gone.  But the official end of a technology that changed the way we watch television will end this month when a company called Funai out of Japan, stops producing VCRs.  They make the units in China and sell them around the world under other names.

Believe it or not, last year they sold 750,000 thousand.  Hard to believe right?  Almost a million people bought VCRs in 2015.

If you have been resisting change, now may be a good time to copy all those old VHS and Beta tapes to DVD and invest in a DVD player.  Analog magnetic tape recordings unprotected from the Earth's magnetic field are only good for about 20 years before the recordings start to deteriorate.  They will eventually have nothing on them.  Before you lose priceless memories, back up those old tapes to digital storage for a lifetime of happy viewing.
