Zero. It costs absolutely nothing to be nice.

While out to lunch, we stopped Downtown at a red light. There was a group on the corner, waiting for the light to cross the street. The group consisted of 3 young men and one elderly woman.

When the light turned green for them, they all started to cross, and then, after only one shaky step, the woman stopped, steadied herself on the light pole, and then stepped back onto the curb.

One of the young men noticed her apprehension and turned to her to offer assistance. Her face lit up as he raised his arm and offered it to her as support.  She took his arm and, together, they crossed the street.

Kudos to that young man for taking time to be nice because, as I stated above, being nice costs absolutely nothing.
