Cool your jets! Don't be ushering Drew Brees out the door just yet. He was widely criticized for turning the ball over in 2014, despite passing for nearly 5,000 yards and throwing 33 TD passes. Hall of Fame QB Steve Young summed it up after a tough Monday night game. "He's not being protected, and they're not playing defense." Multiple moves have been made this off season to remedy both of those situations. The 3rd round selection of Colorado State QB Garrett Grayson should not be interpreted as a sign the Saints have lost confidence in Brees. He has 2 seasons remaining on his contract. Don't be surprised if he plays beyond 2016. The Saints made Grayson their highest drafted quarterback since Archie Manning was selected #2 overall in 1971. It was widely speculated the Black & Gold would draft Bryce Petty. He was still on the board when they made their selection. Choosing a young quarterback now gives them time to groom him, with a mentor who's headed to the Hall of Fame. By the way, Grayson passed for 4,0006 yds. & 32 TD's in 2014.
