On last night’s ‘Tonight Show,’ Roseanne Barr announced that she’ll be running for president in 2012. Even more surprising is that she claims to be completely serious.

“I am running for president of the United States,” she said. “I’ve got to solve all the world’s problems. I’m totally serious because I want to be part of the debates. I want to represent the taxpapers and, in fact, I’m choosing the taxpayers as my vice president.”

But the ensuing schtick hints that Barr’s interest in the presidency is an act: Host Jay Leno displayed several of Barr’s campaign bumper stickers, including one that read: “Roseanne — Finally a Politician Who Can’t Get the Maid Pregnant.”

Since Barr views both Democrats and Republicans as “a bunch of criminals,” she’ll be running as a candidate for her newly-created Green Tea Party, she said. Part of her platform will include no taxes whatsoever and waiving of all debts.

And, as a “twofer,” Barr said she’ll also be running for prime minister of Israel. Sound crazy? Maybe. But stranger things have happened in politics.
