Rob Ryan says he did the best job he could in New Orleans. The Saints 2012 defense was the worst in NFL history. Ryan was hired in 2013. They rose to be the league's 4th best defense that year, but sank in 2014. That had many Who Dats calling for his head. Ryan kept his job, but former Raiders head coach.Dennis Allen was added as a "Defensive Assistant." Allen had served on the Saints defensive staff from 2006-2010. It didn't take a clairvoyant to see they were hedging their bets. When things didn't improve in 2015, Ryan was replaced by Allen mid season. He's since been added to twin brother Rex's defensive staff in Buffalo. The much traveled coach didn't hold back in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated. He blamed the Saints defensive struggles on bad personnel decisions, and not having the freedom to run "his" system. Ryan said he deserved to be fired, as well as those responsible for changing defensive philosophy between 2013 & 14. He went on to say, "Now I’m going to move my whole family over here to Buffalo for a reason: to go kick everybody’s ass, including theirs."
