Ah, Star Wars! Who could have know what a multi generational phenomenon it would become? Three generations have followed the saga. I've watched Star Wars movies as a young adult, later with my children, and grandson. Sadly, I've just learned that Tony Dyson, the creator of R2-D2 has passed away. A neighbor call police on the island of Gozo upon noticing Dyson's front door was open. The cause of death is yet to be determined. bbc.com reported Dyson's death on March 4th, 2016. Dyson created 8 models for the first Star Wars movie (episode IV). Diminutive Kenny Baker was inside some of them. Others were operated by remote control. Dyson also created a robotic dragon for the movie, "Dragon Slayer" and miniatures for a battle scene in the James Bond film, "Moonraker." Now, I have to tell my grandson about this when I pick him up at school...
