Parents Would Rather Have a Boy Than a Girl: Poll

A recent Gallup poll of 1,020 adults shows that, if Americans could only have one child, they’d rather have a boy than a girl
According to the poll, published Thursday, 40 percent said they’d want to have a boy, while 28 percent said they’d rather have a girl instead.
A diplomatic 26 percent said the sex of their child simply does not matter. 3 percent weren’t sure, while another 3 percent had no opinion on the subject.
Gallup has been asking variations of this “boy or girl” question since 1941, and the results have been remarkably steady.
The 2011 results were driven by a 49-to-22 percent preference for boys among men, whereas women only favored their own sex by 33-to-31 percent.
