Comedy, horror and adventure aren’t just words singles use to describe the dating scene — they also nicely sum up the plotlines of the three new movies premiering in theaters this week.

‘Hit & Run,’ which opens Wednesday, is the story of a couple on a fast-paced road trip that grows awkwardly complicated and hilarious when they’re chased by a friend from the past, a federal marshal and a band of misfits.

In ‘The Apparition,’ a parapsychology experiment gone awry creates a malevolent spirit that feeds on fear and torments a couple no matter where they run.

And ‘Premium Rush’ stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a daring bike messenger who’s unprepared for what happens after his last run of the day turns into a life-or-death chase through Manhattan.

Here’s a sneak peek.
