I've never had the pleasure of seeing Pete Fountain perform live. Now, I never will. WWL reports, the legendary musician passed away in New Orleans early Saturday morning. His son in law, and longtime manager Benny Harrell said in a statement, “It’s a sad day for his family. And it’s sad to for all of New Orleans. Pete and his clarinet brought a lot of love and music to the world. He will greatly be missed."  Fountain's career spanned more than 60 years, his credits include performing for a pope, and more than one American president. Health problems forced Fountain to retire in 2014. Pete Fountain was 86. I'm sure the Crescent City will give  him one Hell off a farewell. My he rest in peace.
