City Parish President Joey Durel and City Parish Council Chairman Kenneth Boudreaux will host a commemorative ceremony to unveil a life size bronze sculpture of Rosa Parks in the lobby of the Rosa Parks Transportation Center in downtown Lafayette.

The ceremony is scheduled for 11am Tuesday, May 31st at 101 E. Cypress St. in Lafayette. 

Rosa Parks devoted her life helping to create and preserve equality for all people, regardless of the color of their skin. 

For all of her brave actions through history, Rosa Parks is remembered today as "The First Lady of Civil Rights."
