Nancy Motes, the half-sister of superstar actress Julia Roberts, has died at age 37.

Motes died of a drug overdose, according to a statement issued by the family, which includes Roberts' brother Eric, also an actor. Eric is the father of actress Emma Roberts, as well.

Motes, who was once a production assistant on 'Glee,' according to The L.A. Times, was found dead on Sunday, Feb. 9, in Los Angeles. She was the daughter of Roberts' mother and her stepfather.

The statement read as follows:

"It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes ... confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose. There is no official report from the Coroner's office yet. The family is both shocked and devastated."

Roberts and Motes had a troubled relationship, with Motes, who once weighed 300 pounds but had gastric bypass and decreased her weight by half, was vocal about being displeased over comments her sister had allegedly made about her size. She did call their relationship a "work in progress," claiming that they loved each other.

Motes was also engaged and due to marry in May.
