When you work as a radio station DJ, you get to meet lots of people. Some of those people you meet once and then never see again, while others become life-long friends.

Jessica Lormand and her family have become some of those I consider to now be life-long friends. We may only see each other a few times per year, but it feels like seeing family!

A few years back, Jessica started to send me birthday and Christmas cards in the mail. For the first few years, I'd open the cards, feel a warmth come over my heart, and then go about my day with a smile on my face. Then, I had an idea: why not share the smile and the warmth with the rest of the world? The way I figure it, that is exactly what Jessica is trying to do with the cards.

So I started to video the cards being opened. Once I started doing that, Jessica stepped up her game: the cards get better and better each year!

This year, the card featured Snoopy mailing a greeting card (Jess knows I love the whole Peanuts gang). I loved the card, but it was the extra special item inside the card that struck my heart.

For my birthday this year, I created a fundraiser on Facebook, asking for people to donate to the American Lung Association. Jessica knows the story behind this plea (the same story behind the creation of the Annual 'jeep jaunt'), and did something to make this year's card extra special:

Jessica, thank you for the card, for the extra special item inside, and for being my friend!
