Is This What We Call A "Gold Digger"?

A friend of mine posted a story on Facebook about a recent flight into New Orleans, and the phone conversation that she overheard prior to backing from the gate.

My friend overheard the young lady in the seat next to her talking to her "suitor" and then to one of her (what is thought to be) girlfriends. As it states, it's a long post, but it intrigued me. And it scares me. Here's the post:

LONG SILLY POST AHEAD - so last night I boarded my plane back to NOLA, after a 2-hour delay, and scored the front row (more leg room) next to a cute girl, probably in her 20s. She was on the phone and smiled at me as I sat down. She wasn't talking low so this is what I witnessed:

1st call - with her "babe" where she giggled and thanked him for being so sweet and upgrading her ticket so she could board the plane first; how it was so nice that he sent flowers to her hotel but she couldn't keep them and bring them on the plane; she told him we were delayed and would be landing around 11pm so he could pick her up then, followed by more giggling and the comment - please don't buy me flowers again, I'd much rather you spoil me with upgrades and dinners

2nd call - with a friend in which she went on about how X was picking her up from the airport and driving her back to Baton Rouge, even though he lives in NOLA; followed by the list of sweet things he had done for her this week but that he was really beginning to annoy her because she was so "not the girlfriend type" and he was too nice; she rattled on about being mad at him for telling her after a BIG date with his business partner that she was naturally beautiful and didn't need to wear the hair extensions and fancy make-up she spent precious time doing to look good... she followed this with another comment about how she doesn't really see it working because he lives in NOLA and she lives in BR - she would never move...she shared with her friend that tonight he was picking her up from the airport, driving her to BR and then driving back to NOLA to go to work in the morning! He was just too considerate but since she likes the attention she would continue to see what happens unless she meets someone else.

I realize I don't know who the girl was or who the guy is but I know a few ladies, myself included, that would not mind someone who did sweet things like pick us up from the airport and drive 2 hours out of their way or sending us flowers (thanks Dad for spoiling me on that one)... don't know why it bothered me to the point of this long post - I think it's frustrating because nice guys like her "babe" get burnt by flaky girls like that and are ruined for the rest of us who might enjoy being treated so well... SOAPBOX DONE!

My first question is this: Ladies, really? Do some women really think this way?

My second question: How many of you wish you had a man like this one when you were 20-something?
