No More Twinkies?!

No More Twinkies?! Say it isn't so! When I was a kid, Hostess Twinkies were a delicacy, comparable to a good filet mignon.Those chocolate cupcakes.....Yummy!!  The cream filling, moist chocolate cake. Now comes the announcement that Hostess, the producer of these delectable treats is going out of business.

These treats have been part of the American landscape since 1930. The company is being shut down by a labor dispute.

Hostess bakers went on strike over a new contract imposed in bankruptcy court. Company Management threatened to liquidate the company if the strike continued.They followed through on Friday morning.

CEO Gregory F. Rayburn said, “We deeply regret the necessity of today’s decision, but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike."

This will result in  the loss of 18,500 jobs.

Hostess expects to sell off some of its brands.

I feel like someone just got an injunction to keep Charlie Brown from waiting for The Great Pumpkin.
