To even a casual observer of LSU football the past few weeks it has been obvious that freshman Brandon Harris has played better. It was Harris who almost brought the Tigers back to beat Mississippi State September 20th after the Bulldogs had imposed their will on the hapless Tiger offense.

It was Harris who came in for Junior Anthony Jennings on Saturday and helped the Tiger offense roll over New Mexico State.

The question of who would be the LSU signal caller had been raging on since spring drills. Neither player appeared to have the upper hand in leading the team and it wasn't until hours before the kick off of the season opener with Wisconsin that LSU fans learned that Jennings had earned the job.

Jennings lackluster performance and Harris outstanding performance have lead many Tiger fans to vocalize their support for the true freshman. Says Les Miles of the change to Harris,

"He's a guy that is really fast and a guy that can really throw the ball. You put him in a quality position to extend a play, some good things can happen."

Miles' comments were reported by the Louisiana Radio Network.

While many Tiger fans are rejoicing at the news of Harris' promotion to the starting position that joy could be tempered quite a bit come Saturday. LSU will be on the road against a very tough Auburn team. Harris' and the Tigers will need to have their wits about them and be ready to play in a hostile environment. Coach Miles talked about playing at Auburn,

"Our guys have been through hostile environments before. The noise is, in my opinion, a distraction and the game is certainly that piece that needs to be focused on. I think our guys will get that."

Kickoff for the LSU vs Auburn game will be at 6pm Saturday night. The game will be televised on ESPN.
