Gwen Stefani is in bloom, complete with a big ol’ Carrie Bradshaw-style flower on her head, on the cover of the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

The ish, which drops on Aug. 21, is historic, simply because it is the largest issue in the mag’s 145-year history, raking in a whopping 375 ad pages. In a down economy for print mags, that’s massive. Leave it to Gwen to celebrate with a spread where she is dressed in priceless couture.

Stefani ditched her signature blood red lips in favor of soft pink, which matches the hat that obscures most of her face and one of her eyes. She’s pretty in pink in a confectionary, ruffled number and a peach-tinted leather frock with long sleeves that looks jacked from J Lo’s closet.

The gowns remind us of her dip-dyed wedding dress, which was designed by the now-disgraced John Galliano, formerly of Dior.

But she’s also a diva in black, wearing a full-skirted and fierce dress paired with elbow-length, black leather gloves, too.

While ‘Settle Down,’ which is No Doubt‘s comeback single, may have stalled on the charts, the mother of Kingston and Zuma continues to look ahead and remains fashion forward.

The singer opened up about her love of all things glam in her feature (quotes courtesy of USA Today), saying, “I’ve always been a girl who loves to dress up. I already put my makeup on twice today: I put it on to take my kid to school, and then I went home, washed my face, and put it on again to have lunch with you.”

Clearly, Stefani is committed to looking good at all times, although we can’t imagine putting on makeup twice is fun. You won’t catch her in sweats without foundation when lounging at home with the men in her life, which includes her hunky hubby, Bush singer Gavin Rossdale. “I like to make my husband like me more and he likes it when I’m wearing makeup,” she said with a laugh.

As for the secret to her tight and taut body, even after birthing two boys? She confessed, “There is no secret: You just have to eat healthy, work out, and torture yourself!”

She loves being a mom, even though she struggles, like most women, to carve out equal time for her career and her kids. “It’s superfun being a mom, but it’s hard too. Finding that balance between work and family is the hardest thing I’ve ever done — by far,” she said.

Harder than working out to maintain six-pack abs?
