I made gumbo for several Yankees today, and it seems that they took a liking to it.

Every other year, Shannon's family gathers for a huge Thanksgiving celebration.  Family members travel from Texas, Florida, South Carolina, Oregon and Alabama.  Many of the family will admit that they don't care for spicy, so they were very concerned when they found out that I was making gumbo.

Just as a back-up, Aunt Linda (from Texas) made a chicken-noodle soup, in case anyone wasn't feeling adventurous enough for gumbo.

It was a chicken and sausage gumbo, the largest batch I've ever prepared.  I was a little nervous for a few reasons:  it was Shannon's family I was feeding (acceptance, you know?), and I wasn't certain that my recipe would be adjusted properly for such a large batch.

Well, after I served some people for the 3rd time, I figured that I did okay.  When I looked into the pot of chicken-noodle soup, I noticed that it had barely been touched (actually, I found out that only one person ate any of the soup).  I tasted the soup, and it was quite good, but nothing beats a good gumbo on a cool night!

Anyhoot, my Thanksgiving holidays started off well by being able to hit one 'out of the park' with a gumbo for the Yankees.

And my brother, Danny, sent a pan of his chocolate and caramel brownies.  As you can tell, they were a hit as well!

I hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, surrounded by friends, family, good food and great times.
