This one seems to be, in my head, cut-and-dry:  Lowering the flags for non-military and non-heads-of-state is in poor taste, verging on insulting.

According to the Los Angeles Times, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is standing firm in his decision to lower the American Flag at government buildings  to half-staff to honor Whitney Houston on Saturday, the day of her funeral.   Governor Christie says

For those people who say, ‘I don’t think she deserves it,’ I say to them, 'I understand that you don’t think that. I do, and it’s my executive order.'

In his defense, he has lowered the flag for every fallen soldier and police officer lost during his tenure.  He also lowered the flags in honor of Clarence Clemens, Bruce Springsteen's sax player, when he died last year.

How do you feel about his decision?  This fallen Marine's mom is none too pleased.
