Those of you who are under 40 might not remember a time when you couldn't get the latest electronics at big stores on every corner. New Generation was a local chain of stores in Baton Rouge that opened a store here in Lafayette just south of the Acadiana Mall at what is now the Percy Guidry Courtyard shopping center.

All the latest tech gadgets could be found at New Generation, like the latest VCRs, boomboxes, and microwaves. If you aren't sure what the first two are, ask your parents or grandparents, or search Wikipedia.
