If you're from south Louisiana, it's a safe bet you know - and love - true French toast, or 'pain perdu.' You knew breakfast was going to special when you awoke to the sound of milk and egg soaked bread grilling. My mom always sprinkled powder sugar on top, but I know other people enjoyed their French toast with syrup, usually Steen's.

Somehow, I managed to miss French Toast Crunch cereal, a popular variant of Cinnamon Toast Crunch that was introduced back in the '95. French Toast Crunch lasted until 2006, but General Mills is bringing it back due to overwhelming and popular demand: the company received daily calls requesting its return. An online petition for the cereal received thousands of signatures. A Facebook page dedicated to the cereal has 9,000 followers.

General Mills says French Toast Crunch will be a permanent part of its lineup. Did you love French Toast Crunch when it was first available? Let us know on Facebook!
