I've been a huge Superman fan for most of my life, but it wasn't until the last two years that I was able to finally able to watch the classic 1950s TV series, The Adventures of Superman.

The series starred George Reeves as Clark Kent and Superman throughout its entire 6 - season run, but had two actresses take on the role of Lois Lane. Phyllis Coates played Lois in the first season, but left to pursue a film career. Replacing Coates was Noel Neil, who was the first actress to portray Lois Lane on screen in the 1948 serial Superman.

Noel's Lois became the most well - known to fans, as she went on to star in the role longer than any other actress. Noel also played the mother of Margot Kidder's Lois Lane in the first Christopher Reeve Superman movie and had a small role in the 2006 film, Superman Returns.

Noel was, by all accounts, a sweet and kind woman who loved her status as the longest - running Lois Lane and interacting with her fans. She died on Sunday at the age of 95.

You can see Noel as Lois every Saturday evening on MeTV.
