Festival International 2012: JayCee’s View [Gallery]

My work schedule has allowed me to spend more time at Festival International this year than in recent years past, and I sure am a happy camper because of it!

Shannon and I know how lucky we are to have an event like this right here in our own backyard; today we met people from France, England, Virginia and Texas, and I found out today that my nephew has been playing host to a group of people from Quebec!  Festival International is such a great event for Lafayette and all of Acadiana.  I hope that you were able to enjoy it this year.

Here is a video from Saturday, the Debauche Russian Mafia Band.  These guys were a hoot!

At Scene des Jeunes, there are activities galore for the kids!  Live performances, face painting, arts and crafts, and the playground, all in an 'enclosed' area for safety!

Each year at the small stage at Scene des Jeunes, the French Immersion program at Paul Breaux School puts on a performance... here's a snippet!

If I had to chose one picture to 'sum up' the weather we've had all weekend for the Festival, this would be it:

Stilt-walkers, arts and crafts vendors, food vendors (the shrimp and grits?  TO DIE FOR!!), music everywhere, Dave Hostetter (curator for Lafayette Natural History Museum's Planetarium) was on the sidewalk with a HUGE telescope, giving free views of the moon's surface - - - Everyone is getting in on the fun and spirit of Festival International 2012!!
