Donate To Cell Phones For Soldiers, Get Circus Tickets [UPDATE]
[UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who donated their old cell phones to this campaign. We have given away hundreds and hundreds of passes and have run out of our allotment. So many soldiers will get to call home thanks to your generosity!]
Cell Phones for Soldiers is a nonprofit organization that provides free communication tools to active-duty military members and veterans. We have teamed up with Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey presents Fully Charged, Gold editon, playing the Cajundome June 27-30th to provide passes to their show in exchange for donations to the organization.
Cell Phones for Soldiers was was founded in 2004 by Robbie and Brittany Bergquist, then 12 and 13 years old. Cell Phones for Soldiers relies on donors for cash contributions and funds raised by the recycling of used cell phones.
In 2012, Cell Phones for Soldiers shared more than 515,000 communication tools with military families, providing 31 million minutes of talk time, and collected and recycled more than 815,000 phones. We are hoping that you will help break this record for 2013!
Other than helping the troops, Cell Phones for Soldiers reduces the impact on landfills by having ‘recycled’ more than 10.8 million cell phones.
How can you help?
Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey presents Fully Charged, Gold editon ,playing the Cajundome June 27-30th and 99.9 KTDY thought it would be a great idea to team up with Ringling Bros. and Cell Phones For Soldiers, asking listeners to give an old cell phone in order to get two free vouchers for their presentation. Cell phones for Soldiers will then send them to U.S. Military who are oversees so they call use them to call their loved ones.
You can drop off your cell phone(s) in exchange for vouchers here at the KTDY studios; 1749 Bertrand Drive in Lafayette. Limit 4 vouchers per family, please; you can drop off as many cell phones as you would like, every little bit helps the troops!
