In the late 1980's & early 90's, Sam Mills anchored on of the best linebacking corps.in the NFL. Pat Swilling, and Hall of Famer Rickey Jackson terrorized opposing quarterbacks, coming off the corners. Running against the Black & Gold was a futile enterprise, with run stuffers Vaughn Johnson, and Sam Mills dominating inside. He went undrafted in 1980, because the "experts" felt he lacked the physical size (5'9", 232) to play linebacker in the NFL. After failing to make the rosters of the Cleveland Browns or Toronto in the CFL, Mills made the roster of the USFL Philadelphia Stars. Here's where I remind you, the Pro Football Hall of Fame isn't the NFL Hall of Fame. Sam played for  the Stars from 1983-'85, winning 2 championships. He was selected All USFL in all 3 seasons, and named to the All Time USFL team. When head coach Jim Mora signed on with the Saints, he brought Mills with him. He played 9 years for the Saints, and 3 with Carolina, compiling 1,319 tackles, 20.5 sacks,& 11 interceptions, 1 for a touchdown. He was a 5 time pro bowl selection, and a 4 time All Pro. Should that get him into the Hall of Fame?...I think so.
