I love eating and love good food, so I'm not complaining about the number of restaurants in Lafayette. It's just that I've noticed a proliferation of restaurants over the last ten years or so. I definitely think the addition of new restaurants is positive overall,  as it offers more variety for diners and healthy competition, income, and jobs for restauranteurs and their employees.

That said, it seems to me that there's a lack of innovative and culturally unique dining experiences in Lafayette. Every other day, a new sushi or Mexican restaurant appears or another place to get boiled crawfish, yet Lafayette has no restaurants featuring authentic German or Native American cuisine. These are ethnicities that are heavily represented here in Acadiana. Why don't we have restaurants giving us a culinary glimpse into these cultures?
