The continued drought conditions in Louisiana have led state officials to issue a burn ban.

KATC reports that State Fire Marshal H. Butch Browning and Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain have issued a cease and desist order banning all private burning. Private burning shall only be allowed by permission of the local fire department or local government. This order goes into effect at2:00 p.m., November 5 and remains in effect until lifted.

This burn ban order does not include Bossier, Iberville, St. Landry, or St. Mary parishes.

Violation of this Fire Marshal order could result in criminal and/or civil penalties.
