Officials with Louisiana State Police report a fatal crash happened Tuesday morning on Louisiana Highway 82 near Alcide Circle in Vermilion Parish.

Louisiana State Police Spokesman Troooper Thomas Gossen says this crashed happened at around 9:15 yesterday morning. Gossen says they do not know why 44-year-old Nicholas Ray Seaux of Abbeville lost control of his truck.

The vehicle ended up leaving the roadway, and it hit a tree.

Gossen says troopers investigating the crash found that Seaux was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the truck leaving the roadway.

The man was taken to a local hospital, but he was reported dead a short time after being transported there.

As is standard, officials took samples for routine toxicology tests.

Officials want to remind drivers that driving should be their first priority and not to let anything distract them while driving which can be very easy.

Gossen says every driver should remember not to drive with distractions, while impaired, or while tired.

He adds that state law requires anyone in a motor vehicle to be wearing a seat belt at all times.

State Police Troop I has 40 deaths that have happened due to 35 fatal crashes this year.
