There's good news on the Acadiana job front.  Metal Shark Boats President Chris Allard and Gov. Bobby Jindal have announced an expansion at the company's Jeanerette shipyard.

The expansion is expected to create 88 new jobs at an average salary of more than $62,000. The company is currently Hiring.
Jindal praised Metal Shark for "meeting the needs of our armed forces while also providing great jobs for our hardworking men and women."
A previous expansion of the facility was dedicated last May after the company received a $192 million U.S. Coast Guard contract. Metal Shark is building other boat classes for the Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, as well as local law enforcement and foreign agencies. Construction is scheduled to begin this year.
