Officials with the Eunice Police Department have opened an investigation into an incident that happened at Eunice High School Friday, August 18.

Eunice Police Chief Kyle Labouef says three students have been accused of committing battery on a teacher at the school.

According to the records of the Louisiana Legislature, a Battery (Louisiana 14:35) is the following type of crime:

A. Simple battery is a battery committed without the consent of the victim.

B. Whoever commits a simple battery shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars or imprisoned for not more than six months, or both.

In this case, the two 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old student were arrested in connection to the case. They were arrested on Battery and Disturbing the Peace.

The three students, according to Chief Labouef, were arrested, but then released to their parents.

The investigation is ongoing.
