We Celebrate Christmas All Wrong
January 6 is 12th night, the Epiphany. What is 12th night? It’s the 12th night of Christmas. The celebration of the Epiphany commemorates the visit of the three wise men. Madison Avenue has convinced us the Christmas season runs from Thanksgiving through December 25. That’s wrong. December 25 is actually the first day of Christmas. I’m sure you know the old song, “The 12 Days of Christmas”. In case you were wondering, that plastic baby in the king cake represents the baby Jesus. Who decided December 25 was his birthday, anyway? Many historians believe Jesus was actually born in February.
