Kevin Conroy has provided the voice of Batman in decades of animated television shows and movies — and the gig has led him to voice the Dark Knight in other mediums as well, including several hugely popular video games. Conroy has never played the character in the flesh before, though.

That will soon change when Conroy becomes an older and live-action Bruce Wayne in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover based on the classic DC Comics series Crisis on Infinite Earths. (Conroy played the old Bruce Wayne in voice form in the late ’90s and early 2000s series Batman Beyond.) The news was revealed at this year’s TCA annual conference:

The original Crisis featured the heroes of DC facing a threat to all of the various alternate universes that comprised comic-book continuity of the time. As such, there were multiple versions of many of the characters; in addition to the Superman regularly appearing in Action Comics there was also the older Superman of Earth-2, a younger Superboy of Earth-Prime, and so on.

True to its roots, the TV version — which will cross over between five different Arrowverse series in December and January — will include multiple actors who’ve played some of DC’s most famous characters. The CW has already revealed that Brandon Routh and Tyler Hoechlin will return to play Supermen and the 1960s’ TV Robin, Burt Ward, will also have a role. At TCA it was also announced that TV’s “Crisis” will include an appearance from Cress Williams’ Black Lightning, whose TV show has previously been kept separate from the Arrowverse.

In other words, this thing is shaping up to be the ultimate TV comic book crossover. It kicks off on the December 8 episode of Supergirl. Who else do you want to see make a cameo?
