Unrestrained Driver Dies in Jeff Davis Parish Crash

Louisiana State Police are reporting that a Jennings man was fatally injured in a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning. State Troopers say that the crash happened shortly after midnight Tuesday morning on LA 395 near Bucklin Road.

According to the LSP report, Roy Mallet of Jennings was traveling southbound on LA 395 when the vehicle crossed the center line and left the roadway on the lefthand side. The momentum of the vehicle carried it into a ditch. The vehicle then careened back across the roadway exiting on the righthand side.

The vehicle then impacted an embankment of a ditch on that side of the highway. Troopers say the vehicle then rolled over. The preliminary investigation shows that Mallet was not properly restrained at the time of the crash. The impact of the crash partially ejected the deceased from the vehicle. Mallet was pronounced dead at the scene.

Routine toxicology samples were taken from the crash site and the crash remains under investigation.
