UL's Summer Ellyson Tabbed Softball America All-American

Junior pitcher Summer Ellyson was named a Second Team All-American by Softball America on Wednesday. This was the first All-American Team ever assembled by Softball America.

A product of Teurlings Catholic High School, Ellyson led the nation in victories this season, with 39, the second-most in a single season in UL softball history.

A right-hander, Ellyson put together an incredible overall season, going 39-6 with a 1.11 ERA., while striking out 354 hitters over 272.1 innings pitched. Ellyson, who was named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, helped guide the Cajuns to a 52-6 record this past season, including a perfect 25-0 record in league play. Ellyson was also named a First Team All-Central Region selection by the NFCA earlier this month.
