If there is a silver lining to Thursday's forecast of severe weather in Acadiana it would be this. At least the storms won't be affecting our weekend as storms have done for the past two weekends around the area.

Forecasters with the Storm Prediction Center have placed much of South Louisiana in the "enhanced risk" category for strong to severe storms during the day on Thursday. That's a pretty sure sign that forecasters are telling us it's going to be a bumpy ride.

But, how bumpy and when will all of those bumps arrive?

Based on the KATC TV Futurecast product, much of Acadiana will be under the gun for severe storms between Noon and 6 PM.  The European Forecast Model corroborates what the Storm Team 3 Weather Team has put together as well. Remember, these are forecast models and the timing could be off by an hour or two.

We can't rule out the threat of damaging winds, heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and the possibility of tornadoes during Thursday's weather event. With so many kids home from school for spring break, it might be a good idea to discuss with them what they should do in the event of severe weather.

The good news is that once this weather system moves through the area we should have incredible weather for Good Friday and the Easter weekend.
