‘The Four: Battle for Stardom’ Picked Up for Second Season
It's official: The Four: Battle for Stardom is returning for another season!
Just hours leading up to tonight's Season 1 finale, Fox announced Thursday (February 8) that the music competition series will return for its second season, with new episodes to broadcast as soon as this summer, according to reports by Variety.
The Four showcases four recording acts of various genres vying to secure their place in front of a panel of music industry experts, including Meghan Trainor, DJ Khaled, Sean "Diddy" Combs, and previous judge Republic Records Chief Charlie Walk, who’s tenure on the show came to a screeching halt last month following sexual harassment charges by a former colleague.
Walk has remained steadfast in his refusal of the assault charges against him.
Following the scandal, he later addressed his departure from the show and the accusations facing him in the following statement provided to People via his attorney Patricia Glaser:
“Out of respect for the contestants, my fellow judges and everyone involved with the show, I have made the decision not to attend the finale of The Four. I do not want my presence to be a distraction. Needless to say, this is very upsetting. Although I continue to support the ‘Me Too’ movement, there has been an extreme rush to judgment against me in this particular case which is unfair and inconsistent with anything that even actually happened. I welcome any investigation so that in short order these unfounded and hurtful accusations can be put to rest.”
Since its premiere on January 4, the singing tournament show, hosted by pop vocalist Fergie, has been the network's highest-rated unscripted series in almost four years among the 18-49 adult demographic.
The network already has plans to reveal its Season 2 panel in the month ahead, and its first winner will be crowned during tonight's season finale, airing at 8 p.m. on Fox.
