Girard Park

Petanque (Pa-tonk) is a funny French name for a fun game. And you can play it here in Lafayette! I'd never heard of it until Mike Leblanc educated me about it. Petanque is a bowling game traditionally played in town parks and squares in France on hard packed surfaces. Saturday I drove down St. Mary past the old Abdalla's building and saw dozens of people walking and riding their bicycles, and they all looked like they'd been dipped like a hard boiled egg for Easter! They were actually leaving Lafayette's 2nd Holi Festival in Girard Park.
