St. Martinville Woman Gets Busted For Online Fraud Scheme
A St. Martinville woman is behind bars after fraudulently convincing a female victim to send her money through a "catfishing" scheme.
St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson Major Ginny Higgins said the suspect, 27-year-old Terri Lynn Etienne, created social media profiles portraying herself as several different people.
Etienne then established a romantic relationship with the individual, who sent her social media soul mate more than $5,000.
Etienne was arrested and booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on four counts of theft by fraud over $5,000. She is being held without bond.
