If you happen to cast your eyes toward Louisiana's southwest coastline this morning chances are you noticed a flash or two of lightning off in the distance. The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a few weather warnings associated with this cluster of thunderstorms but most of the heavier activity has remained offshore, at least for now.

There is a decent chance that some of that shower activity that's currently situated in the offshore waters and over eastern Texas could be moving through South Louisiana this morning. Forecasters with the Weather Service have given the area a 70% probability of showers and storms today.

The Storm Prediction Center has not placed Louisiana under any threats for severe weather over the next 24 hours but the potential for strong storms is certainly there. However, most of the forecast models do keep the heaviest storms in central Texas for much of the day.

After today's increased threat of rain passes the rest of the work week appears to be very typical at least as far as the weather is concerned. Afternoon high temperatures will reach into the middle 90-degree range. There will also be a 30% to 40% chance of mainly afternoon showers or thunderstorms each day through Friday.
